April 17 The Truth About Trafficking! Just click Send this page to a friend. "The first step in solving this issue is to make it be heard". • Trafficking means that the victims are forced into a situation against their will. • Most humans trafficked are females (around 85%). • Human trafficking is the third largest business on Earth, behind arms and drug dealing. • Around 17,500 foreign nationals are trafficked annually in the United States. • There are an estimated 1 million people trafficked each year across borders around the world. Most of these are in East Asia or Europe. That's about 11,415 people every hour.
• "Mail order brides," as young as 13, are trafficked from Eastern Europe and Asia. • In Mexico alone, more than 16,000 children are engaged in prostitution. • It is estimated that 293,000 children in the United States are at risk of becoming victims to commercial sexual exploitation. • Labor trafficking, or forcing people to work without wages (slavery), is used for sweatshops, farms, domestic servitude (private "servants"), and small labor operations. • Somewhere between 20,000 and 40,000 people are trafficked into the United States each year. • The average age first being trafficked into the sex industry in the U.S. is just 13-14 years old. • Victims tend to be vulnerable people like undocumented migrants, runaways, at-risk youth, the poor, and oppressed or marginalized groups-anyone easily targeted and unlikely to be protected by law enforcement. April 05 Just-1-Click for Ecology FundAPRIL JUST-1-CLICK: "SQUARE FEEL FOR THE SOUL"
Square feet for the soul! Just 100,000 clicks will restore nature to its original glory in rainforests and untamed wilderness areas across the globe! With your clicks, April's Just 1 Click Campaign, "Square feet for the soul" will donate $1000 to the NOISEmaker-selected Ecology Fund, an organization that lets you can click once a day to preserve threatened habitats and reduce pollution. So click, click, click for the birds and the bees. The Ecology Fund is a website operated by the Hunger Site Network that receives donations for habitat preservation each time someone clicks on a project's banner ad. This "click-to-give" strategy allows anyone to click as much as once a day and is completely free for the individual clicker. Sponsors donate money to preserve an extra 500 square feet of wilderness if you register on the site. Earthlovers Tim Kunin and Greg Hesterberg founded the organization in order to use internet advertising technology to benefit the environment. Amazingly, the site allows users to see exactly how much land is saved after each clicking action. The Ecology Fund is engaged in efforts that range from planting oyamel firs in Mexican monarch butterfly habitats to developing a new national park in Tanzania. Spread the Word Click here to email your friends and family!!! We plan to keep this promotion running until April 30, 2006. Click as often as you like.
